Siak District has various potentials, especially its natural resources. The plantation sector, pulp and paper, and forest concessions support the economy. Approximately 50% of its area is a Non-Forest Estate and Production Forest. In improving their economy, since 2016 Siak had also committed to preserving nature through the Green Siak declaration, which has been realized in the a District Regulation and the implementation of the CommuNature; through development of its community business institution PT Alam Siak Lestari.
